The ‘why’ of investing

As I’m learning more about investing, I’m realizing that the ‘why’ is very important. Why do we want more money? How many people really stop and think about what is important to them and what their goals are?

A pursuit of more money for the simple sake of it is ludicrous. It’s how that money can transform your life that matters. So I’m narrowing in on what is important to me, and why I want financial independence. This way, I have something to focus on and aspire to every week as I save and invest and learn new managment strategies, and it’ll hopefully help me acheive my goals faster.

Why am I investing? Because I want:

  • a retirement that is as carefree and independent as possible
  • the mental health and sense of calm that comes with having enough money
  • to own 1 or 2 personal properties (possibly one abroad)
  • to set my own working schedule and assignments
  • time to persue my hobbies and passions (art and writing)
  • to build opportunities for adventure and exploration
  • the ability to financially help the causes I believe in

Those are basically my reasons for investing and why I’m putting an emphasis on financial education in my life right now. I figure that a year or two of fairly consistent education on financial topics will bring me much closer to achieving my goals.

Happy saving,

Squirrel
